WHAT WE DO!
A.M.P.S. focuses on positive methods of handling anger and gives student alternative solutions for dealing with problems.  Included in this program are:

  • Definitions of criminal threats and battery and their consequences.
  • The definition of anger and what causes it.
  • How do we handle the emotion of anger?
  • Role-playing exercises dealing with real life situations for students.
  • How to report information related to anger, threats and other negative behaviors.

A valuable tool used in the presentation is P.C., a motorized robot patrol car, which the students love and identify with.   You may see P.C. in action in the video to the right.

ABOUT US
WHO WE ARE
We are a group of professionals in the law enforcement, education and mental health fields who are dedicated to giving kids the tools necessary to form a positive foundation with managing anger and staying out of trouble. This also creates a positive interaction with law enforcement at an early age.
WHAT WE DO
AMPS is presented by law enforcement personnel to 3rd and 4th grade students gathered in a group setting with their peers.  The presentation includes active participation of students who do role-play exercises and engage in a question and answer period. Two weeks after the group presentation, individual classroom visits are conducted to reinforce the learning.

IN THE NEWS
AMPS is needed now more than ever.  In recent years there has been an upsurge in actions taken by angry youth that have made worldwide headlines. Our youth struggle to find something positive from today's headlines.  Programs such as AMPS are needed now more than ever to provide our youth with a positive interaction with law enforcement in their developmental years.
OUR HISTORY
AMPS was created in 2001 within the Los Angeles Unified School District and operated by the Los Angeles School Police Department.  The program has expanded and grown throughout the years to the point where it is difficult to keep up with the demand.  In 2016, AMPS became a California Nonprofit Organization and began its expansion Nationwide.
